Please Stand By For An Important Announcement
It would be a stretch, by any metric, to call the initial closed beta a success, but it was a starting point, and a lot was learned. Thank you to those few of you who stuck around to participate, and quite frankly, we don't blame anyone who didn't. It was foolish to attempt to completely change the engine architecture 6 weeks before the beta, and leave so little time to finish the essentials like authentication. But it's time to turn the page, learn from the mistakes, and continue building the game we all want to play.
It's no secret this is a very ambitious project with too few hands, but we're confident that the best is still yet to come. The project and its leadership are going through a major restructuring over the next few months, so you can look forward to some exciting news in the near future regarding those changes.
In the meantime, we're working towards the first open beta test, which will not only show off the core mechanics, but make the whole process of getting into the game a lot easier. One of the lessons we learned from the last round was that we touted "accessibility" as a selling point, and yet added so many barriers to actually playing the game that it was anything but accessible. For the open beta, we have completely reworked the registration and authentication process, so as a new player, you will be able to jump right into the game without any need to register or sign in. And if you decide the game is worth coming back to, you will be able to register your account right from the game client.
All of this to say, we're still here, we're still working on the game, and while the closed beta was a bit of a flop, we're thankful to those who expressed interest and provided helpful feedback. We hope you'll stick around to see what comes next.
